KUCHING, Jan 10: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) chief Milton Foo today sidestepped speculation linking him to the Pending seat, stressing that his focus remains on public service while any decision on elections is up to the party.
He was responding to questions on rumours that the incumbent Batu Kawah assemblyman Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian might shift to Pending, and whether he himself was interested in contesting the seat.
“For this question, I will leave it to the party,” Foo told reporters after a press conference held at SUPP headquarters here today.
Foo further said his priority at present is carrying out his duties as Public Complaints Bureau chief, assisting members of the public who approach him for help.
“People come to see me with their problems, and I try my best to solve them. I think that is my primary intention or primary job now,” he added.
On whether he would contest in the next state or parliamentary elections, Foo declined to comment, saying it was not the time to make any announcement.
“Regarding elections, whether State or parliamentary, I leave it to the party. I respect all party decisions on this matter,” he emphasised.
Rumours have been circulating that Dr Sim, who is the SUPP president, may switch to contest the Pending constituency in the next Sarawak election.
However, Dr Sim on Jan 8 stressed that there was no reason for him to leave the Batu Kawah seat, saying both he and the constituents there were satisfied.
The Pending seat has been held by Democratic Action Party (DAP) assemblywoman Violet Yong Wui Wui since 2006.
