Millions in allocations to benefit Kedayan community in Bekenu

MIRI, April 22: The Kedayan community here have good cause to rejoice as Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg announced a RM4 million allocation towards the construction of the Kedayan Heritage building and RM25 million for infrastructure development in Bekenu.

“Today, I’ve fullfilled my promises to the Kedayan community. The construction of this heritage building is in progress and would benefit the community once completed,” he said during the ‘Makan Tahun Perdana 2019’ event in Kampung Pintasan Tiris, Bekenu yesterday.

Among those present were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Minister of Utilities Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Bekenu assemblywoman Rosey Yunus who was also the event organising chairwoman, Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni, Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat and Miri Resident Mastapa Julaihi.


About 3,000 people attended the event. — DayakDaily
