KUCHING, Oct 12: The Mid-Autumn Festival should not only be about reunion and mooncakes, but also about compassion for the elderly, says Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin.
Leading members of the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kota Sentosa Branch Women’s Section, community leaders and councillors, Yap spent the day with residents of Rumah Seri Kenangan to spread festive cheer and share the warmth of the season.
According to a press release, the team handed over mooncakes and essential household items to remind the elderly that they remain cherished members of the community.
He expressed gratitude to the home’s management and caregivers for their dedication, noting that their selfless work embodies the true spirit of caring and inclusion.
“The Mid-Autumn Festival is not only a celebration of reunion and gratitude but also a reminder of the importance of compassion and community spirit in building a caring and inclusive society,” Yap said.
The visit wrapped up with laughter, light-hearted conversations and smiles all around—a scene that reflected the true Mid-Autumn message: sharing, caring and unity under one moon. – DayakDaily
