KUCHING, March 24: Several areas in Sarawak are expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds until 4pm today.
According to a notice by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued at 1pm today, the areas involve Kuching division followed by Serian (Serian district), Samarahan, Betong (Pusa, Saratok and Kabong), Sarikei (Sarikei), Mukah (Tanjung Manis and Daro), and Miri (Miri and Marudi).
“A thunderstorm warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity of more than 20 mm/hour that is close or expected to last for more than an hour,” it highlighted.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release. — DayakDaily
