KUCHING, May 2: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas in Sarawak this afternoon.
Anticipated weather conditions include thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds affecting Sri Aman, Betong (Betong), Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Sibu (Kanowit), Kapit (Song), Miri (Miri and Marudi), and Limbang (Lawas).
The warning, issued at 1.50pm today, remains in effect until 5pm.
“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour. A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per release,” it highlighted. — DayakDaily
