KUCHING, Oct 16: MENARABENA, an all-in-one business-to-business (B2B) platform designed to connect construction industry players with building material suppliers, is expected to be available for use in Sarawak by the end of this month, with its rollout in Sabah targeted for the end of the year.
Developed by Menara Asia, the platform aims to address quality and compliance gaps in the construction industry while reducing sourcing time and operational costs.
According to a TVS report, Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the platform is expected to streamline the process for contractors and suppliers to access information on construction products, material prices and certifications issued by the relevant authorities. He said the platform would begin operating in Sarawak by the end of this month, with expansion into Sabah expected by the end of the year.
“I hope this platform will fully benefit the nation’s construction industry players, particularly in facilitating processes and obtaining information related to building material prices.
“Our hope is that all construction-related matters can be simplified, including obtaining information and certifications from the Public Works Department (JKR) and the Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB),” he said at a press conference after officiating the launch of MENARABENA yesterday.
In a Facebook post, Nanta said the initiative could empower local industry players, particularly small and medium-sized contractors, by helping Malaysian products and expertise reach international markets.
“I see this initiative as an opportunity to empower local industry players, especially small and medium contractors, by helping Malaysian products and expertise penetrate international markets.
“What is important is that technological advancement must benefit all industry players, from G1 to G7 contractors. A more modern construction industry is not just about technology, but how technology simplifies processes and creates more opportunities,” he said.
Nanta added that the platform’s implementation aligns with the Malaysia Digital 2030 (MD2030) agenda by accelerating processes within the construction industry. – DayakDaily
