KUCHING, Mar 2: The Mega Fam Iftar 2026 programme, held from Feb 27 to Mar 3, rbought together 24 media practitioners and travel trade partners from seven Asean countries including Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Laos and Cambodia to experience Malaysia’s Ramadan celebrations and promote the country under Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) through a five-day four-night itinerary across Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
According to a statement by Tourism Malaysia, the programme highlighted key cultural events such as Iftar@KL organised by National Culture and Arts Department (JKKN) and Festival Ramadan Putrajaya by Perbadanan Putrajaya, both listed in the Calendar of Events (CoE) for VM2026.
Participants visited Iftar@KL and Festival Ramadan Putrajaya, alongside curated experiences at Seri Negara, The Exchange TRX, Sultan Abdul Samad Building and KL Tower.
Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya were selected for their status as major international gateways and administrative centres, providing a comprehensive view of Malaysia’s urban vibrancy and cultural identity.
Tourism Malaysia’s director general Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim said the programme offered participants an immersive experience of Malaysia’s culinary heritage while enhancing promotional coverage of the country’s culture, gastronomy and iconic destinations.
The initiative also underscored Malaysia’s growing tourism sector, which welcomed 42.2 million visitors in 2025, an 11.2 per cent increase from 2024.
With further collaboration between media and industry partners, organisers are confident of achieving sustainable growth while showcasing Malaysia’s diverse cultural and culinary attractions throughout VM2026. — DayakDaily
