KUCHING, Aug 28: A 34-year-old mechanic died following a single-vehicle accident at Jalan High Park Mile 12 along Jalan Kuching-Serian today.
Padawan district police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the accident was believed to have occurred at 12.30am.
According to Abang Zainal, the victim, identified as Ganis Gregory Chan from Kampung Quap in Jalan Penrissen, was believed to be riding his motorcycle alone on his way home.
“Based on the initial investigation, it is believed that the victim lost control of his motorcycle and skidded before ending up on the roadside.
“As a result of the accident, the victim suffered serious injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene,” he said in a statement today.
The death was confirmed by medical personnel from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
The deceased’s body was later brought to the forensics unit at SGH for a post-mortem.
Further investigation of the case is still being conducted under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
