MCO violation: Sarawak continues to record double figures with 73 arrests

KUCHING, April 24: Movement control order (MCO) violations in Sarawak continues to record double figures, with 73 individuals arrested in the past 24 hours since 8am yesterday.

State deputy police commissioner Datuk Dev Kumar said the highest number of arrests was recorded in Kuching (30), followed by Miri (15) and Padawan (13).

Other districts that recorded MCO flouters included Sibu (4), Meradong (3), Kota Samarahan (2), Simunjan (2), Matu Daro (2), Limbang (1) and Sarikei (1).


“This brings the total number of arrests since the implementation of the MCO on March 18 to 1,566 individuals,” he said in a statement.

Dev added that in the same 24-hour period, 65 individuals have been charged in court.

Kuching yielded the biggest number of individuals dragged to court at 18, followed by Kota Samarahan (14), Serian (11), Bau (10), Miri (5) Padawan (5) and Bintulu (2), he said. — DayakDaily
