MIRI, April 15: The movement control order (MCO) entered its third stage today, with more people queueing up to apply for the inter-district travel permit at Miri Police Headquarters here this morning compared to the two earlier MCO phases, says Miri deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol.

When contacted today, he disclosed that most of the applicants for the permit had offered various reasons mainly related to work which was urgently needed to be done during the MCO.

A ground check this morning at Miri IPD, revealed a 50-metre long queue outside the building, comprising people standing in line to apply for the permit. Some had arrived at the IPD as early as 8am.

The third MCO which starts today until April 28 will see stricter enforcement to ensure public compliance.

Those caught defying the order will be summarily detained for legal action. In the first and second phases of the MCO, only compounds were issued to violators. — DayakDaily
