KUCHING, May 30: Minister for Local Government and Housing Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian is certain that both federal and State governments would roll out financial stimulus for many other sectors in the coming weeks and months.

He said the sixth Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS 6.0) package amounting to RM1.4 billion announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on May 28 was just the beginning of special aid packages to alleviate the burden of Sarawakians during the current statewide Movement Control Order (MCO).

He said Sarawak’s focus and priority would be to save lives while cooperation from the general public is highly needed.

“(There were) too many requests for ‘essential’ services and ‘essential’ businesses to be opened. I beg for your understanding, cooperation, perseverance and sacrifices.

“Sarawak, while not as bad as in Peninsular Malaysia, is in a critical time of the Covid-19 pandemic, so don’t risk the lives of your workers and your families,” he said via a social media post today.

Noting that the incubation period for the novel coronavirus is up to 14 days, he urged everyone to stay at home throughout the 14-day movement restriction to be able to see positive results of the lockdown.

Dr Sim, who is also State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor, thus advised people to minimise social activities when necessary, wear face masks at all times when out for essential tasks and for those who have been contacted through MySejahtera not to miss vaccination appointments. — DayakDaily
