KUCHING, Oct 15: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has issued a stern warning to the public that legal action will be taken against anyone found sharing images or videos of the school stabbing incident involving a female student in Petaling Jaya on Monday (Oct 14).
According to a TVS news, MCMC said that circulating such content violates the privacy and dignity of the victim’s family and may disrupt ongoing police investigations.
“MCMC urges everyone to act responsibly and refrain from sharing, forwarding, or uploading any material, including photos or videos, that show the victim, other students, or the scene of the incident.
“If such content has already been uploaded, the public is strongly advised to remove it immediately,” the commission said in a statement today.
MCMC added that offenders may face legal action under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities or services.
