KUCHING, March 27: Miri City Council (MCC) is transitioning from physical to digital assessment bills beginning in 2024, in accordance with Miri’s Smart City status.

According to Miri mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang, the council is delivering assessment rates bills via email.

“There will be no sending out of physical assessment bills to ratepayers with effect 2024 onwards.

“It is advisable for the ratepayers to update their email address and contact number to the Council. This is to ensure all assessment rates, notices, and letters reach the ratepayers,” he said during the MCC Ordinary Meeting today at Miri City Hall’s chamber in Miri.

He said ratepayers who do not have an email address may make payment at the Service Sarawak counter at MCC’s Urban Transformation Centre (UTC).

“The ratepayers can subscribe to receive their assessment bills and make payment online via S Pay Global app, Service Sarawak website and app, and Pay Bills Malaysia website. The payment methods are at your fingertips to avoid inconveniences of queuing at the counter.

“The due dates to pay the assessment rates are May 31 and Oct 31 every year for 1st half and 2nd half accordingly.

“We would like to urge ratepayers to pay the assessment rates before the due date to avoid penalty and legal action,” Yii added. — DayakDaily
