MIRI, Dec 29: Miri City Council (MCC) is confident in realising the master plan for Greater Miri which involves further development for Miri and its adjacent sub-districts through the effort of three Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) elected assemblymen.

MCC mayor Adam Yii promised Mirians great changes for the city next year.

He said MCC, being a local authority of Miri City, has geared up to take on more challenges by bringing in more development, stimulating economic vibrancy as well as building a safe, environmentally friendly and conducive living environment for Mirians.

“We strongly believe that for the next five years, we can see great changes for the betterment of Miri City in light of our vision to charter a master plan for Greater Miri, bringing in further developments to both Miri and adjacent sub-districts and more benefits to the people of Miri through the joint effort of YB Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, the Wakil Rakyat (elected representatives) for Sendain, YB Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, the Wakil Rakyat for Piasau and myself, the Wakil Rakyat for Pujut and Mayor of Miri City Council,” said Yii.

Despite having the support of three assemblymen, for their plan and mission to be realised, they need the support and contributions from the stakeholders of Miri City.

“In this respect, we are grateful to see many organisations, associations and individuals who are also the recipients of Miri City Mayor Award for the past three years, who have subscribed the same vision and mission with us.

“We will see more and more partners and contributors to work with us and together we can realise our vision and turn our plans into reality in the near future,” said Yii during Miri City Mayor Awards 2020 held here tonight.

The Miri City Mayor Awards was introduced in 2018 and had been held for three consecutive years.

The objective of organising the Miri City Mayor’s Awards is to identify, recognise and reward government agencies, local organisations, NGOs and individuals who have subscribed to same vision of MCC and have translated this noble vision into action and produced the fruits of success in various aspects that the Mirians are enjoying now.

“This is our humble way of expressing appreciations and recognition towards your contributions. Certainly your exemplary efforts will inspire more to do likewise for the betterment of Miri City for many more years to come,” said Yii. — DayakDaily
