KUCHING, June 27: The Miri City Council (MCC) has demanded the main contractor for the Miri Centralised Sewerage project to fix a road which has been badly constructed.

The city council in a press statement said it was disappointed with the sub-standard road repair being carried out by the Miri Centralised Sewerage project contractor, adding that the repair work carried out by the project contractor was unacceptable.

Thus, MCC said it will write a letter to the main contractor of the project and demand the repair works to be done satisfactorily and in accordance to the road reinstatement work specifications.

“MCC wants to inform the public that the council took seriously the complaints by the public on the Miri City Centralized Sewerage project on the lack of safety features at the various work sites in the city, and the slow work progress, and work sites being abandoned without proper resurfacing or closures.

“MCC had written to the main contractor to take the necessary remedial actions immediately, failing which the council may consider to issue a stop work order to stop the project due to contractor’s failures to carry out its work in accordance to the best practices and public safety requirements,” it said in a press statement.—DayakDaily
