KUCHING, May 29: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) will be opening its counters for ratepayers to settle their assessment bills tomorrow (Sunday) from 8am to 12 noon and on Monday from 8am to 4pm.

Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said that counters at MBKS Headquarters will be open for the next two days to facilitate ratepayers to pay the assessment bills for the first half of 2021 which will be due on May 31.

“If discounts extended by the Sarawak government are not reflected in the old assessment bills issued, the public can always ask for a new bill to be issued at the counter.

“If individuals have made payment without the discounted rate, the excess payment will be brought forward to be discounted in the bill for the second half of 2021,” he said during his ‘Shall Wee Talk’ live session on Facebook today.

Meanwhile, the Sarawak government has extended a 20 to 30 per cent discount for assessment rates for domestic, commercial and industry premises for the second half of 2021.

This was one of the 15 measures announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg yesterday when unveiling the Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 6.0 following Movement Control Order (MCO) enforced in Sarawak from today until June 11.

BKSS 6.0, which was rolled out to alleviate burden on the people due to MCO and Covid-19 pandemic, will incur an expenditure of RM1.4 billion on the Sarawak government, apart from ongoing measures under BKSS 5.0. — DayakDaily
