KUCHING, Aug 1: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) and Taian City in the Western Shandong Province of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on exchanges and cooperation today at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here.
According to MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, the purpose of the MOU is to enhance and develop friendship and cooperation between the two city councils. Additionally, it aims to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of Malaysia and China.
He went on to say that through friendly consultation, they had reached the aforementioned common understanding on relevant matters for the development of friendly cooperation and the establishment of friendship city relationships.
Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government (MPHLG) Sarawak Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian was present to witness the signing and exchange of documents between Wee and CPC Taian Municipal Committee secretary Yang Hongtao.
Among those present at the signing were MPHLG deputy ministers Michael Tiang Ming Tee and Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, MBKS deputy mayor Hilmy Othman, MBKS city secretary Hajah Zainab Marzali and Chinese Consul General in Kuching, Xing Weiping. — DayakDaily
