KUCHING, Apr 1: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) set up a body temperature screening checkpoint for all shoppers at Kenyalang Park market this morning.

According to a media release, a similar procedure was implemented at the Stutong Community market yesterday (March 31).

MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng together with police officers visited the market for an inspection.

Wee emphasised that the purpose of such measure was to ensure that all shoppers to the markets were properly screened before entering the areas.

The public is also advised to do their shopping during weekdays as the crowds are smaller.

“This is to avoid overcrowding in the markets which normally occurs during Saturdays and Sundays.

“Only one member of the household should do the shopping and to leave the market once they are done shopping,” he urged.

In addition, Wee also advised shoppers to strictly practice social distancing of at least one metre.

“Public cooperation and compliance with the measures are necessary because we need everyone to fight against Covid-19,” he added. —DayakDaily
