KUCHING, May 14: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) will open a special counter at its lobby on May 16 and 23 to assist senior citizens and students in applying for government programmes and benefits.
According to a press release, the counter will operate from 8.30am to 12 noon on both days as part of MBKS’s community-focused initiative to provide direct assistance for applications such as the Kenyalang Gold Card, the Senior Citizen Health Benefit (SCHB) programme, and Yayasan Sarawak’s Bantuan Kewangan Khas for students.
MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the initiative reflects the council’s continued commitment to being a caring and inclusive local authority.
“This initiative underscores MBKS’s continued commitment to being a caring and inclusive local council, ensuring that no one is left behind in accessing the services and benefits available to them,” he said.
The council also encourages eligible individuals, especially those in need of assistance, to take advantage of this opportunity by approaching the officers stationed at the counter.
Additional counters will be available to help ratepayers with E-Billing registration and other assessment-related matters.
An Affin Bank counter will also be set up to facilitate applications for the Kenyalang Debit Card. — DayakDaily
