He said the upgrading works prioritised the facilities required to host basketball competitions, focusing on the installation of FIBA Level 1 compliant timber sports flooring, painting, repair of toilets, doors, roofing, lighting, and immediate external works around the building.

These works were implemented simultaneously in two packages and were awarded to Liscorp Services and Cottage Holdings Sdn Bhd on April 1, 2024. The construction was closely coordinated and supervised by MBKS, assisted by a team of consultants.

Wee expressed his gratitude to all the parties for their commitment and efficient execution of the project ahead of the planned schedule.

“We are delighted to see the completion of these essential upgrades within a tight schedule. The council is also looking at a long-term plan to further upgrade this 34-year-old stadium, such as introducing air-conditioning system in the arena, reflecting our ongoing commitment to providing top-notch facilities for both athletes and the community,” he said in a statement today. — DayakDaily
