“As in previous years, Majlis Bandaraya Kuching Selatan has designated the car parks at Stutong Commercial Centre and Stutong Community Market as the official locations for the Ramadan Bazaar 2026. And this year will be the same.

“We are having this press conference to appeal to everyone who would like to apply for the store which is open today to invite all the interested applicants to submit their application in accordance with the council guidelines,” he said during the Ramadan Bazaar 2026 press conference at MBKS headquarters today.

According to Wee, the bazaar will comprise 24 beverage stalls, 60 cooked food stalls, 54 dessert stalls and 22 barbecue or grilled food stalls.

Application forms can be collected from December 22, 2025, during office hours at One Stop Service Counter 9, MBKS lobby, Jalan Padungan.

All applications must be submitted by January 6, 2026, before 4pm. Late submissions will not be accepted.

“Applicants are required to submit supporting documents including a passport-sized photograph, a copy of the identification card, a valid food handler’s course certificate and proof of medical examination with typhoid vaccination at the applicant’s own cost,” he said.

Wee emphasised that spouses are not allowed to hold or operate more than one stall under their names.

“To ensure the fair and equitable distribution opportunity, we wish to emphasise on this and hope that everybody will follow regulation and give everybody a chance,” he added.

Each successful applicant will be required to pay RM300 for stall rental and RM100 as a refundable security deposit.

He also encouraged operators to introduce innovative food offerings while maintaining quality and hygiene standards, and to respect local tastes and culture, in line with Kuching’s status as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

MBKS, he added, will continue its collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) and Pertubuhan Pemuda GEMA under the MySaveFood Ramadan Project to reduce food waste by redistributing unsold bazaar food, with a target of increasing food recovery by 20 per cent.

“The use of styrofoam and plastic packaging is strongly discouraged and both store operators and members of the public are encouraged to adopt environmentally friendly practices including the use of reusable container, bringing your own shopping bag, as part of our shared responsibility towards a cleaner city,” he stated.

Wee said MBKS aims to ensure that Ramadan Bazaar 2026 is safe, orderly and well-managed, urging operators to apply early and comply with all council requirements, while thanking the public for their continued support.

The briefing and balloting session for stall allocation will be held on February 10, 2026, at 9am at the MBKS Auditorium. — DayakDaily
