KUCHING, July 1: All applicants who were unsuccessful in securing a stall space in the upcoming Kuching Food Festival (KFF) 2023 will receive a refund of their deposit within 14 days.
Giving this assurance, Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng emphasised that the council is known for its prompt reimbursement of funds.
“In my four years as mayor, there have been no complaints regarding delayed or unpaid funds.
“The council adheres to a system that ensures payments are made within 14 days, either through direct bank transfers or cheques,” he explained during his ShallWeeTalk engagement session with the community today.
His remarks came following Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong’s call on MBKS to promptly refund the deposit payments to all unsuccessful applicants, which was posted through her social media.
However, Wee clarified that cash reimbursement is not possible due to alignment with government practices.
“If an applicant misplaces their receipt, they can report the issue at Counter 9, providing their name and filling out a form to initiate the claim process,” he added.
This year, 809 applicants competed for the limited 310 stall spaces available at the KFF.
The highly anticipated festival will be returning to the festive ground of MBKS Community Hall at Jalan Padungan here from July 28 to Aug 20.
Meanwhile, Wee said that the Mayor’s Walk event is expected to be held on Aug 20, and the public will be informed about the opening of registrations in due time. — DayakDaily
