KUCHING, Jan 14: Walkaround inspections at Padungan, Saradise and Gala City areas have been carried out by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng himself and his councillors last night (Jan 13).

They visited a few premises in these areas to check on the compliance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by the operators.

As such, the mayor reminded all operators in Kuching to always ensure that SOPs are observed among the public as the council is strict when coming to the compliance of SOPs, especially when the Covid-19 figures are spiking these days.

“All operators of business premises and their customers must follow and obey all the SOPs laid by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in hopes that it can help to flatten the curve.

“Stay focus on playing your role and do your part as the responsible community,” he said in a statement today.

On the same night, Wee also went to the ground to monitor the places under MBKS jurisdiction that were badly affected by the flash flood of late.

While expressing concerns to the flood victims, he hoped for everyone to stay alert and calm as the government is trying its best to provide all the necessary assistance.

“As for now, please call the relevant agencies for any emergency and avoid being in the flood water for safety purposes.

“The monsoon season is a natural phenomenon and cannot be avoided but we try to reduce any casualty and damage to the properties,” urged Wee.—DayakDaily
