KUCHING, Jan 20: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is calling on Kuchingites to move forth into the new Lunar Year of the Rabbit with positive energy and joyful thanksgiving.

MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the new year signified the coming of a refreshing Year of the Rabbit and the sending away of a difficult Tiger year of combating Covid-19.

He said the tough fight against Covid-19 over the past years had affected Chinese New Year celebrations and even now, Kuchingites have yet to declare complete triumph over the illness.

“But we have survived and managed to see another new day and continue to embrace life with high hope for the future. This is our triumph in the road against Covid-19.

“So let us face the new days ahead of us with positive energy and gratitude and to live a life full of delights.

“Let’s celebrate this Chinese New Year with a heart of joyful thanksgiving that we may look forward to a wonderful year, one in expectation of a brighter future,” said Wee in a Chinese New Year video today. — DayakDaily
