KUCHING, Oct 19: One animal rabies-positive case has been reported this week in Sungai Moyan, Jalan Batu Kawa, Padawan, according to the mayor of the Kuching South City Council (MBKS), Dato Wee Hong Seng.

During his 238th ShallWeeTalk Facebook live session, which took place today, Wee brought attention to the fact that the incident was caused by a bite from a free-roaming pet dog.

“I encourage everyone to seize the opportunity to vaccinate their pets during the ‘Free Anti-Rabies Vaccination, Licensing, Microchipping, and Subsidised Neutering for Dogs’ programme.

“As you can see, we schedule these programmes on the weekend to make it easier for everyone to find time to bring their pets in for vaccination,” he said.

The mayor further expressed hope that pet owners cooperate with the authorities to decrease the number of rabies cases. — DayakDaily
