KUCHING, Nov 28: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is looking at the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the organising of Chinese New Year (CNY) bazaar especially at the Kenyalang Park here next year.

Despite battling the Covid-19 pandemic in the state, MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the council is in the midst of preparing the SOPs for the hosting of CNY bazaar which could be held in the next two months.

“We are preparing and maybe there are some SOPs which need to be followed.

“If the businesses comply with the SOPs, the CNY bazaar can be implemented.

“Nonetheless, we will study the arrangement of the stalls and how to ensure the sale of CNY goodies can be done appropriately,” he said on his Facebook live session today.

Wee noted that the Chinese community still needs to celebrate CNY next year although the state is battling with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Wee was responding to Alice Lai, a participant during the FB Livestream session today.

Lai asked the mayor whether there will be any sale of CNY goodies in particular CNY bazaar to be held at the Kenyalang Park here next year.

Wee believed that if the businesses and the community strictly follow the SOPs to be outlined, it will not be a problem for the hosting of the CNY bazaar. —DayakDaily
