KUCHING, Dec 15: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is turning to technology to better serve residents, launching a QR code-based feedback survey to gather opinions on municipal services, facilities and the city’s overall living environment.

The launch took place at the MBKS Annual Dinner 2025 held at Imperial Hotel last night, where Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian scanned the QR code as a symbolic gesture, officially unveiling the MBKS Municipal Services Feedback Survey.

The survey, hosted on Google Forms, aims to make it easier for residents to share their views and help the council improve cleanliness, public parks and other city operations.

MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the initiative is part of the council’s wider push to raise its standard of excellence, with priority to be given to strengthening municipal services.

“Our response time, cleanliness operations, park maintenance and enforcement must continue improving.

“We will expand smart city initiatives and digital services to ensure convenience, security and accessibility for all,” he said.

He also said MBKS will deepen its commitment to inclusivity through AUSOME PARK, Bank Sampah, Child Friendly Cities and Age Friendly Cities.

“Additionally, we will support economic growth by ensuring Kuching South remains clean, stable and business friendly.

“And we will strengthen our internal talent through training, leadership development and teamwork. If we want greater achievements, we must grow together,” he added.

Also present were MBKS Deputy Mayor Dato Zaiedi Suhaili and former mayors Datuk Song Swee Guan and Dato James Chan Khay Syn.
