MBKS keen to preserve good ties with friendship city in China

KUCHING, Feb 13: Kuching South City Commission (MBKS) is committed to preserving its relationship with its friendship city in China.

The message was conveyed to the consulate general of The People’s Republic of China in Kuching today during a courtesy call led by MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng, deputy mayor Hilmy Othman and several MBKS councillors.


MBKS in a press statement revealed the call signifies the city’s commitment in preserving and upholding existing strong bilateral relationship with its friendship city in China.

The courtesy call was received by the deputy consul-general of China, Zhang Yang.

Meanwhile, Wee during the meeting also expressed words of encouragement on behalf of the people of Kuching to China over the recent Covid-19 incident.

He reiterated Malaysians’ stand to render support in appropriate ways, and to work hand-in-hand with concerned parties to overcome the epidemic.

Wee also expressed condolences and sympathy to the victims and their families and commended the efforts shown by the Chinese government and provincial authorities in dealing with the epidemic.

The mayor and his team of councillors also took the opportunity to make contributions to assist some of the victims who have been affected by the Covid-19 outbreak. — DayakDaily
