KUCHING, March 3: A pet store along Jalan Datuk Bandar Mustapha has been issued a notice to abate nuisance following complaints from residents about continuous barking, unpleasant odours, and hygiene concerns linked to unlicensed pet grooming and boarding activities at the premises.
The inspection was conducted today by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, accompanied by councillors and enforcement officers from the council.
According to a post shared on its official social media, verification on-site confirmed that the council did not issue licences for such pet grooming and boarding operations at the location.
A formal notice under Section 113 of the Local Authorities Ordinance 1996 was issued, requiring the operator to take immediate remedial action to stop disturbances affecting the surrounding commercial area.
Wee emphasised that businesses must strictly comply with local regulations and operate responsibly to avoid impacting public health, sanitation, and community peace.
“Failure to comply with the notice constitutes an offence under the Ordinance and may result in a fine of up to RM2,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both,” he warned.
The council reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a clean, safe, and orderly environment, stating that firm enforcement action will be taken against violations to safeguard the wellbeing of the community. — DayakDaily
