KUCHING, Aug 3: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) hopes to see next year’s Kuching Festival Fair held at a larger venue with improved facilities.

Organising chairman Cr Goh Tze Hui said the festival could be rated as one of the largest open-air functions to be held annually in Kuching.

The present festival, which runs from July 29 until Aug 21, consists of 333 food stalls selling international and local delicacies, 90 operators for trade fair stalls, a garden corner, and a large stage for nightly performances non-stop for 24 nights.

“With the increasing popularity of the Kuching Festival Fair and the correspondingly large number of Kuching folk and visitors turning up at this festive event each year, there may be a need to apply different strategies in reorganising for future festivals.

“I sincerely hope that with the strong support of the State government and the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, MBKS can make this proposal come true,” he said at the opening ceremony of the Kuching Festival Fair 2022 held at MBKS Open Stage, Kuching Park last night (Aug 2).

He also thanked his organising team for making the event a success and expressed his appreciation to the main sponsor, Magnum 4-D.

The event was officiated by Sarawak Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian. — DayakDaily
