KUCHING, Oct 28: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has proudly received the Anugerah Penarafan Bandar Pintar (Smart City Early Adopter Award) at the 2024 World Town Planning Day (HPBS) celebration held in Putrajaya today.

According to a press release, this distinguished award recognised local authorities that have taken early steps in adopting smart city technologies, focusing on sustainability, efficient urban management, and advancing citizen engagement through digital platforms.

The event gathered 156 local authorities, planners, and stakeholders to celebrate forward-thinking solutions and innovations in urban planning.

In response to the recognition, MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng shared his pride and gratitude, stating, “This award reflects MBKS’ commitment to integrating technology and innovation as we strive to become a model smart city.
