KUCHING, Nov 7: Kuching South City (MBKS) councillor Bong Siak Peng conquered the challenging Ironman 70.3 race held in Kenting, Taiwan, on Oct 29.
He finished the race with a time of 6:21:24 in the M40-44 division, according to results posted on the race website.
The Ironman 70.3 race, known for its demanding physical endurance challenges, consists of a rigorous course encompassing a 1.9-kilometre swim, a 90.1-kilometre bike ride, and a 21.1-kilometre run.
“A defining moment occurred as Bong, nearing the finishing line, unfurled the Sarawak flag, raising it high in a symbolic display of unity and pride, representing the spirit of Kuching City South,” according to a press statement.
Expressing his gratitude for the overwhelming support from the Kuching City South community, Bong emphasised the importance of promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among the constituents.
His inspiring journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and dedication in achieving personal milestones and encouraging others to strive for excellence, said the statement.
