KUCHING, March 27: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is collaborating with a local artist, Gerald Goh, on the “Art For Heart” project to help the needy during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

The “Art For Heart” project uses a social media platform to raise funds for the needy through artwork in exchange for donations.

“The project will collect a minimum RM100 donation for each family, while offering sketched portraits of the donors. The fund would be used to purchase necessities items for the needy communities,” Goh told a press conference at MBKS headquarters here today.

The council encouraged the public to participate in the event and those interested can WhatsApp their names and number of families that they want to sponsor to 0162-792350 (Angeline Bong).

Meanwhile, MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng urged the public to join the ongoing blood donation campaign at Dewan Masyarakat MBKS.

“Public who ware interested to donate blood can come to the hall and participate in this meaningful event. I assure that the hall will be a safe place for everyone and the campaign will be held from 9am to 4pm every day,” he said.

At the media conference, Wee expressed gratitude to the Chinese Consulate for donating 3,000 face masks for the staff of MBKS, where some are working in the frontline to serve the public in light of the Covid-19 outbreak. — DayakDaily
