KUCHING, May 27: The assessment rate and payment counters at Kuching South City Council (MBKS) will be closed tomorrow (May 28).

In a statement today, MBKS said that it will not be opened as scheduled due to some technical issues.

The Council apologised to all ratepayers for the inconveniences caused.

Meanwhile, assessment bills for the first half of 2022 for properties under MBKS’ jurisdiction will be due on May 31, and the second half of 2022 is on Oct 31, 2022.

Ratepayers are reminded that payment after the due date will be subjected to a one per cent surcharge per month or part thereof.

As the discounts has been extended under Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKKS) 8.0 , residential properties with rates above RM400 per annum will continue to enjoy a 25 per cent discount, as well as between 30 and 100 per cent discount for residential holdings with annual rate of below RM400.

Those who have already made payment for the first half before the new bills were issued could claim for a rebate in the assessment for the next half of the year.

Other than visiting MBKS counters, payments for assessment bills can also be made through e-services such as www.paybillsmalaysia.com, http://service.sarawak.gov.my, SPay Global e-wallet app or via Internet banking of respective banks.

Ratepayers may also pay their assessment bills at Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), Sesco, Kuching Water Board, Post Office, Kuching North City Hall (DBKU), and Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) payment counters. — DayakDaily
