KUCHING, July 31: A city requires individuals who are healthy, positive, and capable of fostering harmony and peace, which can be developed through yoga practice, says Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Dato Wee Hong Seng.

He stated this in his speech today during the 8th United Nations International Day of Yoga 2022 event hosted by the Brahma Kumaris Malaysia (Kuching Branch) at the Kuching Waterfront here.

“The International Yoga Day aims to raise awareness about the numerous benefits of yoga practice around the world.

“Yoga, an ancient method of physical, mental, and spiritual exercise that originated in India, can be learnt by people of any religion or background, as it is the art of keeping the body and mind healthy.

“It is an essential component of human life because physical and mental health are the foundations of a happy life,” he said.

He noted that it is essential to educate the public about the importance of achieving physical and mental health through regular yoga and mindfulness practice, and he believes that such an event will benefit the entire Kuching community. — DayakDaily
