KUCHING, Dec 15: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng called for stronger coordination, clear communication, and prompt action among stakeholders to ensure the continued growth and competitiveness of Sama Jaya Industrial Park.
“As a key industrial park in Sarawak, how we manage Sama Jaya directly affects investor confidence. Effective coordination and timely follow-up are essential,” he said in a press statement following a Sama Jaya Industrial Park Management Committee (IPMC) Meeting 1/2025, held earlier today.
The meeting was also attended by SECA president Chok Siong See, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED) Lo Sheau Sia, representatives from government agencies, and industrial players.
Wee expressed his appreciation to MINTRED, together with the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) and the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), for organising the meeting, highlighting the role of the committee in addressing operational issues and coordinating inter-agency actions.
He noted that Sama Jaya Industrial Park provides employment to more than 15,000 workers, with 99 per cent being local Sarawakians, underscoring its strong contribution to the State’s economy.
Wee also encouraged industrial players to actively use the Sama Jaya IPMC WhatsApp group to enable faster communication and response among relevant agencies.
He urged all parties to continue working closely to keep Sama Jaya Industrial Park competitive, well-managed and sustainable in the long term. – DayakDaily
