KUCHING, Sept 8: Water supply to the highly populated Matang Jaya has been inconsistent in its quality, leading to complaints and discontentment among residents.
A resident of Matang Jaya contacted DayakDaily, asking for the issue to be highlighted so that it can be resolved by the authorities.
“For some time now, every now and then, the quality of water supply to Matang Jaya has been inconsistent.
“Usually, a day within a week, the water supply would suddenly become very murky. I have been experiencing it. It usually happens at peak hours in the morning when I am rushing to work or in the evening when I am about to take a shower after work. And that becomes very frustrating, especially in the morning when we are rushing to work.
“When the water becomes murky, you cannot really use it for showering and, worse, for cooking in the evening,” said the resident, who wished to remain anonymous.
When this happened, he was uncertain of the quality of the water supply during other times aside from the peak hours in the morning and dinner time as he would be working in the office.
He questioned the reasons for this situation and whether it has been a widespread phenomenon across all residential areas in Kuching.
Sending DayakDaily a picture of water collected from his home this morning, he said other times, the water quality could be worse than this.
He called on the authorities to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
To him, Kuching is heading toward becoming a cosmopolitan city, and ensuring quality water supply is essential as it would impact the lives of Kuching residents. — DayakDaily
