Mat Rempit ruckus irks Jalan Kampung Hilir residents in Sibu

SIBU, Nov 11: Residents of Jalan Kampung Hilir here are up in arms against a group of Mat Rempit and are urging the police to take immediate action once and for all.

“Do not let the villagers lose patience and take the law into their own hands,” said an angry resident, Ahmad Rizal Janting, 43, today.

Ahmad said the group of teenagers had been terrorising them with their racing in the area.


“The group not only race in the area to endanger other road users but are also creating a ruckus thereby disturbing the peace of the otherwise serene village especially on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, till the break of dawn,” he said.

According to him, their activity has been happening in the area for quite some time now and the residents are feeling frustrated. “I have lodged three police reports of this Mat Rempit menace.

However, when the police arrived they fled. They will resume their activity once the police leave,” he said.

He appealed to the authorities to take the issue seriously for the sake of their security.

“Do not let the villagers lose their patience and take their own actions by pouring oil on the road,” ​​he warned. – DayakDaily
