MIRI, Jan 2: Miri welcomes a new Resident today in the person of former Serian Resident Mastapa Julaihi.
Mastapa succeeds Sherrina Husaini, who will be the new Kuching Resident. She was Miri Resident for 18 months.
Met after the handing-over ceremony at the Sarawak Islamic Complex here this evening, Mastapa said his first priority would be to fill up 44 vacancies in five sub-districts in order to serve the community better.
The sub-districts are Bario, Long Bedian, Tinjar, Mulu and Niah.
“This would be one of my challenges as the new Miri Resident so that we can carry out our mission and vision of reaching out and deliver the best services to the people,” said Mastapa, who served as Serian Resident for two years.
Meanwhile, Sherrina commented that based on Mastapa’s vast experience, she was confident he would be able to discharge his duties well.
Also present at the ceremony held at the Sarawak Islamic Complex here were district officers from Miri Division. — DayakDaily
