MIRI, Nov 15: The long traffic queue along the Miri-By-Pass road yesterday until the Pujut flyover to Southlake /Vista Perdana traffic light junction was caused by a mobile crane illegally parked by the roadside obstructing a traffic lane.

It was not related to the newly operating Southlake/Vista Perdana traffic light junction, says Minister of Transport Sarawak Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin.

“After investigations by Public Works Department (JKR) Miri Division, it was found out that the traffic jam was due to a mobile crane illegally parking at the roadside obstructing a traffic lane,” said Lee.

He added, based on the development plan, a permanent dual carriageway will be constructed when the new Suruhanjaya Perumahan Nasional Berhad (SPNB) housing project starts.

“As such, in order to access Vista Perdana, the developer Naim will construct a temporary access route connecting to the Pan Borneo Highway,” he explained.

Work on the temporary access route is scheduled to start today and will be completed before Christmas this year. — DayakDaily
