Masing wants govt to make vaccination mandatory

Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing

KUCHING, Aug 13: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing has suggested that vaccination be made mandatory for everyone as it is the government’s duty to protect the anti-vaxxers from themselves.

According to Masing, Kuala Lumpur is mulling over it, but time is of the essence and should not be wasted on the research for the pros and cons of mandatory vaccination.

“If its human rights argument by anti-vaxxers, please note that, it’s not individual human’s right to get another person infected by this deadly virus and cause him to die. To me that argument doesn’t hold water,” he said in a statement today.

Masing also opined the anti-vaxxer should be educated based on the scientific evidence of the perilous nature of Covid-19.

He pointed out that it is crucial to ‘force’ those anti-vaxxers to be vaccinated before the Delta variant dealt a severe blow to everyone and them (anti-vaxxers) and overload the capacity of the hospital beds.

“Epidemiologists all over the world said that vaccination is the only way to reduce the severe impact of Covid-19. It will not stop Covid-19 infection, but it will reduce its deadly impact.

“If anti-vaxxers refuse to believe in science, for reasons best known to themselves, we force them to believe in science by vaccinating them,” he added. — DayakDaily
