KUCHING, Aug 18: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Tan Sri Dr James Masing believed that it would be most appropriate if a MP from the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) can be appointed to become the deputy prime minister (DPM) of Malaysia.

The chosen one, regardless who the person may, should be decided by GPS leaders.

“It would be most appropriate if GPS MP can be given a DPM position.

“The one chosen, of course lies with GPS leaders,” said Masing who is also Deputy Chief Minister in a statement today.

Amid all speculations, he held that the acknowledgment of GPS’s contribution to the formation and stability of Malaysia’s government is more important than appointment to the DPM post.

Masing was responding to the recent calls touted by some Sarawakians to appoint Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi as deputy prime minister. — DayakDaily
