KUCHING, Sept 3: Hydro Electric Power (HEP) is more sustainable and efficient as compared to fossil fuels in generating energy, said Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Jemut Masing.
According to Masing, facts and figures have clearly shown that the advantages of HEP over fossil fuels in generating electricity.
“These facts and figures are very obvious,” he said in a statement yesterday, referring to the ‘Pros and Cons of Hydropower versus Fossil Fuels’, as published by Sarawak Energy.
Masing pointed out that for certain individuals, who are critising the usage of HEP, they have little knowledge about the facts.
He asserted HEP produces clean and sustainable energy, while fossil fuels are highly polluting with finite resources and have a limited time frame.
“Therefore, Wong Soon Koh (Parti Sarawak Bersatu president) and his members who are very critical of our HEP are actually saying it just for political mileage with very little reference to the facts,” he added. — DayakDaily
