KUCHING, Sept 14: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing has presented a total of RM3.17 million in Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds to various committees, associations, clubs and non-governmental organisations (NGO) in Sarawak for this year so far.

In a simple ceremony today, Masing who is also the Baleh assemblyman, handed over the MRP cheques to about 20 recipients from outside Baleh constituency at his office.

“We keep the ceremony brief and small with only 10 recipients invited for each of the morning and afternoon sessions.

“This is to ensure that the event adheres to the standard operating procedure (SOP),” he said in a statement today.

The first phase of MRP funds disbursed in June 2021 in Kapit amounted to RM1.8 million which benefited 91 Village Security and Development Committees (JKKKs).

In the second phase, 39 JKKKs received a total of RM461,500 in MRP grants and this was followed by fund disbursement to 87 more recipients comprising NGOs, associations, clubs and women bureaus totalling RM909,000. — DayakDaily
