Illegal logs seized in the waters of Pulau Dudong.

SIBU, Dec 2: Sibu Regional Marine Police Force Five (PPMW5) has successfully confiscated illegally harvested logs estimated to be worth RM408,000 in the waters of Pulau Dudong, Sungai Batang Rajang yesterday.

Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said today that while carrying out ‘Ops Pensura’ at around 9am in the area, a PPMW5 team found a pile of logs that had been tied into a raft.

“Further inspection revealed approximately 160 logs of various types and sizes that do not have the Sarawak Forestry Department’s (JH) hammer mark and are believed to have been obtained illegally,” he said.

Zulkipli said that the case has been referred to Sibu Divisional Forestry officers for further action.

“The confiscation was made under the Forestry Ordinance 2015,” he added. — DayakDaily
