Manyin: Let CM decide if I will stand in coming Sarawak Election

KUCHING, Nov 18: Tebedu incumbent Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong said he would leave it to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to decide whether or not he will be defending his seat in the coming 12th Sarawak Election.

Manyin said currently, he is the oldest cabinet member of Sarawak and “everyone knows what that means”.

ā€œI am already too old. I’ll leave it to the chief minister to make the announcement on it,ā€ he said after attending to the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony between UITM Sarawak and RENG College of Technology and Design, held at Tun Abdul Razak Library in UITM, today.

Manyin was responding a question asked by reporters on whether he would contesting his seat in Tebedu constituency.

When asked if there was a chance that he would be contesting again, the Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research replied that he wasĀ already 75-years-old, and had serve Tebedu constituency for 25 years, or five terms.

ā€œIt is not for me to say. It is the chief minister’s prerogative,ā€ he added.

Earlier on, Manying witnessed the MoU signing ceremony between UITM Sarawak and RENG College of Technology and Design.

Through the MoU, both institutions will conduct an exchange programme involving the management and academic staff, as well as information sharing, and at the same time, enhance the academic fields in both institutions, especially in terms of technology and design. ā€” DayakDaily
