SERIAN, Oct 13: The Bidayuh community will have nothing to lose by supporting the GPS government as the community will continue to progress under GPS, asserts Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong.

“By not supporting the government, it is not the elected representatives who are losing, but the community (Bidayuh) as a whole.

“So come the state election, which may be held either this coming November (after the State Legislative Assembly sitting) or January, February or March next year, I urge that the Bidayuh support the GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) government,” Manyin urged those present today at the closing of the Agriculture Community Outreach Programme (AgriCOP) for Tebedu at Kg Kuhon Mawang Community Hall, along Jalan Tebedu.

The programme was attended by 97 farmers from the area.

Manyin who has been the Tebedu assemblyman for the past 25 years asserted that the community should not make a mistake by voting for the opposition.

“Being a minority group of about 220,000 in total population, the Bidayuh cannot afford to make the wrong move by supporting the opposition,” he reiterated.

Meanwhile, he called on the farmers to adopt modern technology and methods of farming for higher yields.

He said the present group of farmers were fortunate because the government was providing opportunities such as to attend courses to learn new technology and methods of farming.
