KUCHING, Feb 1: The body of a man was discovered in Sungai Midin after the Batu Kawa Police Station received a tip-off from the public at about 8.50am on Saturday (Jan 31).
Padawan District Police Chief Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said that following the report, an investigation team from the Padawan District Police Headquarters, together with the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), was dispatched to the scene.
“Initial checks found the body of a man lodged among mangrove branches in the river before it was fully retrieved at about 9.30pm last night,” he said in a statement.
He added that the body, which they were unable to identify, was sent to the Sarawak General Hospital for further action, including a post-mortem examination.
“At present, the case has been classified as a sudden death, and further investigations are ongoing,” he said.
