SIBU, Dec 29: A 49-year old man has been apprehended for allegedly vandalizing and damaging 11 graves at Al-Qadim Islamic Cemetery, Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg.
Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said today that the suspect was arrested at 1pm yesterday at Jalan Channel.
The arrest was made following a report lodged by a 39-year complainant on Dec 24 on the damage done on the graves.
“The suspect has a history of mental illness. The investigation paper will be handed over to the deputy public prosecutor for further action,” said Zulkipli.
The case is being investigated under Section 297 of the Penal Code. — DayakDaily
