SIBURAN, May 29: A man in his 40s, believed to have mental health issues, allegedly attempted to take his own life in a forested area near the Sungai Tapang Bridge, off Tapah town along the Kuching-Serian Road this morning.
The attempt was thwarted after his father promptly contacted the police. Personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH) also arrived at the scene to assist.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Siburan responded to the emergency call at around 11.02am to assist police in locating and extricating the victim from the forest, approximately 50 metres from the Serian-Kuching highway.
Upon arrival, firefighters immediately worked to bring the man out to the main road, which was difficult to access due to the terrain and overgrown vegetation.
He was then handed over to paramedics in the waiting ambulance and police for further evaluation. — DayakDaily
